Dr. Greenwood's Page

Thank you for visiting my website!  This is my 34th year in education and my ninth year here in Bement. I serve our district as the interim superintendent.  My hometown is Flora, IL and I received my Bachelors, both Masters and my Specialist degree from Eastern Illinois University and my Doctorate degree in Education from McKendree University.

We continue to work to make our school district better inside and out, both with our highly qualified and dedicated staff and with our building improvements/updates.  We are writing grants to get new windows for our high school building and we are in the process of getting a new boiler installed to have better control over our heating and update that technology.  If you had never seen the old boiler, it was the size of a train locomotive, quite ominous, but served our district well until we were advised that it had neared the end of its life expectancy.  

The most important message I can share with you today is my deep appreciation for the way our communities, parents, guardians, grandparents, students and staff have handled this pandemic.  Our desire to have everyone in person daily is not an easy task and everyone has risen to the challenge and we are making it happen here in Bement CUSD 5.  We couldn't do it without the trust you place in us to keep kids first and provide a safe and nurturing space for learning.
